About CDF

The Christchurch Catholic Diocesan Development Fund (CDF) is a charitable trust established in 1967.  Being 55 years old, the Fund is well-established, with over $25 million under investment.  Managed from the Diocesan Office, the Fund is governed by a Board of Trustees who uphold to:

  •  Provide financial support for the continued expansion and advancement of the Catholic Diocese of Christchurch. CDF Vision
  •  Through careful stewardship and sustainable growth enable the increase in the provision and financial support to the Bishop of Christchurch to empower him to fulfil the vision and objectives for the Catholic Diocese of Christchurch. CDF Mission

The CDF allows loan funding so projects, which strengthen our community, are completed without parishes, schools, and Catholic organisations having to borrow commercially.

In addition, the CDF’s surplus is used to fund the Pastoral Plan, Catholic Social Services, the Catholic Education Office, the Catholic Youth Team, Chaplaincy Services and the National Seminary.

We know the Church will use the shared interest from our investment for the common good. We have trust in the diocese and bishop as to where they decide the distribution is best applied. Our CDF (business) account sets aside surplus funds as well as saving for our regular GST and annual tax payments. It’s reassuring knowing that our savings are helping our community.
